Dorchester Substance Abuse Coalition

Mobilizing the community to reduce and prevent youth substance use and abuse

The Dorchester Substance Abuse Coalition (DSAC) is a grassroots organization dedicated to reducing, preventing, and eliminating substance use and abuse among youth in our community. We bring members of the community together to address the risk factors leading to substance use and abuse, and educate parents and loved ones about prevention and treatment. Our members include youth, parents, organizations and individuals from all sectors of the community, including the Mayor’s office, the police department, the Boston Public Health Commission and local schools.

Underage Drinking Projects

Alcohol is one of the most accessible and dangerous problems facing Dorchester teens. Harbor Health has recognized this and has designed a multi-faceted approach to underage drinking in our community.

The Harbor Health team is implementing programs that educate teens on effects and risks of drinking on both their personal health and the health of the community they live in. In addition to the basic education programs Harbor Health has adopted the philosophy of having teens lead in the fight against underage drinking.
